Monday, one of the scientists who work in the lab (one of the two, the other one being my mentor) took us down to Seldovia, the town on our side of the Bay. It is about nine miles down the road. The population of the town is roughly 300. It's quaint. I like it. There is one restaurant, one bar, one small expensive grocery store, a little harbor, a little gas station/hardware store, one bookstore/pottery shop. The Seldovia Village Tribe employs most of the town. The Fourth of July celebration there is rumored to be quite the spectacle. My favorite part was the chainsaw sculptures around town. They have a big competition each year. The angler below is my favorite sculpture. Photo credit goes to my fellow intern Stan.
